Believe it or not, my sons' PLC chose Drama as one of their monthly themes
at their planning conference a year and a half ago. Last winter, one of the
monthly events was a lock in at the church's Scout room/cafeteria. All
Friday night and Saturday the Scouts worked on the "sets" and practiced
their lines, culminating in a performance for parents and family that
Saturday night.
The entire concept was conceived and executed by the Scouts. They wrote
their own play by adapting some Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe material,
prepared for several weeks at troop meetings, and created a simple stage and
setting using green plastic tarps for curtains. Largely because it was
slapstick comedy and everyone was in the proper mood, the whole event was a
big success - a lot of fun for the Scouts and truly enjoyable for the
adults. It's back on the calendar again, but this time they will use a
local community center with a semi-decent stage for the lock-in and
presentation.

Happy New Year to all !
My troop is planning an overnight lock-in the end of January at the Church
Hall.
I am looking for any ideas or agendas that have been "field tested" on your
own lock-in's.
