Mea Culpa - but I'd say it that way again until I knew anyways...

Someone else gets the credit, I wasn't going to push this until the kids got
their problems straightened out, but someone else did (and we all know who, so
give him a HAND!):

>I asked my Council Advancement Secretary to call National and ask about using
>the same leadership time for Star/Life/Eagle and Bronze/Gold/Silver in a
>Venturing Crew.
>
>The verbal answer is:
>
>Boy Scout Division says it is not their call - the Venturing Division has to
do >that since we are talking about making the advancement in the CREW, not a
>Troop. (If rank is made in a TROOP, the Scout must have Troop leadership
time.)
>
>Venturing Division says that, until further notice, using the same leadership
>tenure for both sets of awards is NOT prohibited. This is in line with what
the >Venturing manual has in it - no prohibition. The new advancement
guidelines, due >out sometime in 1999, should address this concern one way or
another, but for >now it is acceptable to count the same period of leadership
for both sets of >advancement. This applies ONLY to advancement for both sets
of rank in a CREW.
>
(snip)
Theres more about the possible future expectations about processing the
Venturing awards, but I don't even want to get into that since its probably my
fault it even is being discussed.

However, I promised I would admit it if I was wrong, and you got it from me as
soon as I heard - well, within 3-4 hours after it was sent to me.
