Gday all,
thought I would like to explain what his happening here re this isse. One
thing that is happening right here in the State of South Australia is that
if scouting pictures are to be used for *anything* (including leader
magazines as well as on the internet) we get permission from the parents to
say that they are happy or not happy to have their chid's picture, first
name, as well as group, ie Sarah from 1st Angle Vale Scout Group, Sa
enjoying whatever at XYZ scout event. This allows the parent to consent to
their child's picture being taken, as well as allowing them to know if and
where we are going to publish it. most of the time as well, the child and
family get a copy of the photo as well.
Again, no permission from parent, no photo taken. This applies equally, as
I said, to all publications and *not just* the internet. This means the
parent knows who will or wont be taking photos, as at many events, we have
offical photographerand boy, is it ever hard to get these photos for
promotional use as well out of these guys as well. they dont hand them over
to just anyone.
This also means that at the up comming ACT Cuboree, to be held in Canberra,
any photos you people see of cubs, will know that their parents have given
express permission for the photo and information to be posted. This is just
something that we are doing, to ensure that both the parents are aware of
the photos and also what they are being used for. This is something that we
have implemented and many groups are following suit.
Just another prespective.
