I'm going to brag.

First, a disclaimer. I'm one of the WORST about guarding people from being
picked out from the web. The National Association of Presbyterian Scouters
site I run (now being revised) does not print youth names except in rare
circumstances, and then doesn't give information on where those youth are. I
went out of my way to help other Scouters get through JOTI with approved
Scouters sharing their lists.

We went to the National Exploring Leadership Conference with one Explorer
assigned only the purpose of getting the newsletter out on the web You can
check out the daily issues at that site:

http://bcn.boulder.co.us/community/explorer/nelc

Every page went out under the strict guidelines that National has for internal
staff for webs for these types of events. (Don't even ask. There are rules
that are followed by people advising volunteers at these events, and ask for
it in print, you will often find out such things are not in existance in
print, only in the rules given them before they left Texas.) You will see that
the names are only the first unless the participants were candidates for
office or winners of a competition. Even the STAFF photo has only first names,
and we jumbled the list so no one could do figure it out unless they knew one
or more of us. Photos are fine, however.

We advertise ourselves every time we recruit new troop members and release to
the entire community our meeting place, if not time and day. To worry about it
being on a website is an unnecessary concern. If it is a concern, assign an
adult to make sure youth are picked up only by the expected adults. It may
seem like extra work, but my son's go to schools that do the same thing for
many more people than any unit has.

So a website with youth first names, adult names and e-mails, would be
acceptable.
