Acronyms Used On Scouts-L

Here are some of the Acronyms that I've seen in use either on Scouts-L or in
related private postings (a couple of words have been changed in a few in
the interest of avoiding more vulgar common uses). I'm sure I've missed

In addition there are a bunch of smiley faces that are used. To
view them, turn your head to the left so that the face appears right-side

8-() wide-eyed with amazement

Grins

<eg> evil grin
<veg> very evil grin

Terms

Lurker Someone who reads a group, but doesn't post

Flame A vitriolic attack in response to a post, generally on a
personal level.

Spam An article (almost always an ad or personal) posted to a
large number of groups which is clearly irrelevant to the
group.

Technically, a spam is posted one group at a time, while a
Velveeta/Jello is cross-posted.
