Parent Participation

My worst experience involving parent participation was when another Scouter
and I were asked to assist in a Round-up night at one of our District's
packs. We sat at a table with 8 wolf-age boys and all 16 of parents,
explaining the program and parental involvement. We not only could not get
any of those parents to participate with their sons, we were offered $1600
($200 per boy) if we would be their den leaders. We turned them down and
that pack had no wolves that year. This particular group of parents had
every excuse under the sun, school, bowling, work, etc.
Overall though, in our Council, we have seen an increase in participation by
parents.
