Hank Voegtle <hvoegtle@IX.NETCOM.COM>wrote and asked:
>What exactly did Woolrich say?
"The blue jacshirt we previous made for the BSA is not in stock."
When I asked if I could place a special order, the gentleman
answering my request stated "We don't do special orders for that
item; it is a special item made for the BSA by us."
I also contacted the Supply Division, thinking that perhaps as I've
correctly stated here before, that the Supply Division DOES "hold
onto" some items so that the National staff or even the CSE can
"give them out" as need be. No dice there, either "I haven't seen
one of those since the middle 70s; no, we don't have them available
any more and there's no present plans to bring them back."
>With all the retro-grouches <grin> here on Scouts-L, if Woolrich
>wanted a minimum order for a particular color we could probably
>oblige, except for a matching BSA patch.
I'm willing to go back and ask again, if there's anyone else that
would like a BLUE jac-shirt instead of a RED one. The patch issue
can be resolved simply by not *having one* on the jac-shirt, or by
using the older Cub Scout or Explorer emblems (or the new Venturing
emblem). By the way, Scott (Smith), what "colors" have been
suggested for Venturing?? The old Exploring colors were blue and
red; is Venturing going to pick those colors up again (for flags
and other items) or is there going to be another set of colors like
Blaze and brown (used for the Varsity colors).
I would love to have the jac-shirt to come back, Hank. If you're
interested in the jac-shirt in blue, just post me and I'll post you
privately with a copy of the letter I'll send to Woolrich and also
post you back with their response.
