Anyone have any tips on wilderness survival?

Jay Willis (hpprgmr2@PNN.COM)

Seasonal Greetings!

A news item has been weighing heavily on my mind lately. Maybe you have
heard or read about the 8-year-old boy who was looking for a Christmas
tree with his dad and grandfather south of Crater Lake and north of
Klamath Falls in Oregon, and became separated from them. He has been
missing since last Saturday, and the temp dropped to 8 below lastnight.
He was warmly dressed and had a hatchet (recuers have found signs that
he may have made a bed with pine boughs). As most of you do, I have two
boys of about the same age as this young man, and my heart really goes
out to his parents. I can just imagine the anguish his mom and dad must
be feeling now, and the guilt his dad is also feeling.

Anyway, what I had in mind was a wilderness survival presentation at the
pack and troop that my boys belong to. Can anyone offer some tips and/or
web sites that I could use with said presentation?

Thanks,
Jay
