Spoof knots

Here is one topic that I will jump in on ... I bought some of the knots with
the silver fork. We have presented 4 so far and they have gone over like
gang busters. The people that have received them love them. I present
them to those that have worked in the kitchens over the years at many
scouting events. They are as cherished as any knoy the person wears. I
wear one and I tell people what it means and they just love it.
I also wear a knot with a gold dollar sign on it to protest the "James E.
West" knot. I call it the "Buck" knot cause that is how much it cost. I hate
the "West" knot and I don't care who knows. Buying a knot is just plain
wrong in my book.
The way I see it, if I give $1000 to the council and they give me a knot,
then I should not sew it on my uniform, but give it to some youth for being
an outstanding scout. If I get flamed, so be it. I also hated to see the
"Silver Buffalo" go to Clinton, just because he is the Prez. What has he
done for scouting?
What next? An "I went to Jambo" knot. Let's give knots for work done in
the advancement of scouts and scouting, not for the amount of money I
give. Somebody suggested a knot for past military service. What does
that have to do with scouting? Don't get me wrong. We could not exist
without the donors and their deep pockets. I am working on my
grandparents to give a $1000 to the council and the knot will not be worn
by them or me, but presented to their great-grandson as a gift.
That is what the "West" knot is for. There I've said it... I hope I didn't go
over the cliff on this one, but knowing this list, I did.
YiS Terry
