Well, off the top side of my balding head, I can think of three
reasons why:
*To introduce male Scouters that haven't "received the clue yet"
that female Scouters can and do have the capability (and approval!)
to serve in ANY REGISTERED position in Scouting (you'd be suprised
how many of us guys STILL THINK that the only reason females are in
Scouting are to serve within Cub Scouting (now that Exploring's
over *there*)
*To network with other females doing similar or different roles
within the same Council (or District). I don't know about females,
but I always welcome the opportunity to be a part of a "minorities
in Scouting" or "Blacks in Scouting" forum, whether its part of a
national or regional meeting, or as part of a Council training
event. A lot of times, those "in the minority" (and women are in
the minority of Scouting!!) feel that "we're the only ones" doing
this. It would be nice to see some *other faces*!
*To talk about issues specific to females and Scouting. To the top
of the list are "placement of insignia so that some males aren't
looking at the WRONG things" and "where can you get X items" that
would wear best with Scouting uniforms?"
So, having a "break out" session for females involved in our
program is a pretty good idea. There's other reasons why such a
session's a good idea, but I can't think of any more than those.
I'm too tired!
Hope this helped out with the discussion!
Settummanque!
