Indeed the BSA did have green poplin and wool jackets for scouts and red for
leaders. I am told the change was for the 1967(?) World Jamboree held in
Idaho; something about wanting to look sharp and all the same I think.

Incidently I still have my wool green scout jacket with green pocket
patch.........and it still fits!!!! ( 50 this Feb!)
