Hey Jan!
As I originally posted here, 1998/99 is the year in which ALL BSA
publications gets the "once over". Typically, the BSA's
publications run in a ten-year cycle. Every five years, the
publications are reviewed by the division responsible for the
publication, and task forces and other ways (Philmont Volunteer
Training Center, Jamborees, Wood Badge, etc.) take a good look at
the materials and see if the material is still valid.
At the ten-year point, the BSA puts out new versions of the
publications and updates those publications not being "remade".
Therefore, this year and the start of next, we can all expect to
see new versions of just about all of the BSA's current most-used
and requested library of literature.
The BSA has already released some of the publications that youth
use; the adult publications are supposed to be released after the
first of the year along with Council Support publications and
District publications.
I'm personally waiting for the new Adult leader publications, which
I and others have been told that they will be in a 8x11 punched
hole format similar to the popular Cub Scout Leaders' Book and
other publications. I've got plans for my copy and I'm hoping that
other people will see what I've done with my copy and want to do
the same things.
Settummanque!
