"In this hall, the Boy Scout Movement was Publicaly Inaugurated by
Lieut.General Sir Robert S.S. Baden-Powell, K.C.B., on January 24th, 1908"
This is on a tablet inside the YMCA building in Birkenhead, England.
B-P had the famous Brownsea "field testing" in August 1907.
The book "Scouting for Boys" which introduced the term "Scouting" and "Scout"
in its present form was published March 1908.
Feburary 8, 1910, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated in the District
of Columbia.
Hope those dates help out, Cheryl!
