I have already been told that I should be suspecious of single men (but not
women) as potential child molesters, but here I am told to also suspect
them as trolling for single women. In 34 years of scouting including 1
pack, 9 troops, 2 posts, 1 ship, 3 districts, and 2 councils, I have met
hundreds of scouters and I cannot recall one who was in it to meet women.
If we keep up this paranoia, we will quickly run all single men (but not
women) out of the program.

Then where do we turn our paranoia? I have it, venturers. I bet some of
the boys join just because there are girls involved. We can't have that.
I guess we will have to get rid of all of the male (but not female)
venturers too. <grin>

In the interest of full disclosure, I must confess that as a single
scoutmaster, I did marry my advancement chairman (divorced with kids)
eleven years ago. But I must have been slow, it took me almost 16 years as
a single adult leader to meet the right women. Hardly an efficent use of
my time though unless that was some other reason for being in the program.
