More information on BSA Cars by Mattel HotWheels

The small car is the typical Hot Wheels racing car size, designed to
be used on Hot Wheels tracks.
(Great inexpensive gift for any Scouter, young or old.)
Prices I saw at Toys R Us were 2.99 (US) for the 1st edition
packaging, and 1.99 (US) for the non first edition packaging.

There appear to now be (at least) two editions of the 1/64 size car.
One is bubblewrapped on cardstock, on a primarily black background
card, Hot WHeels Pro Racing logo. The card bears the emblem of the
car being a 1998 first edition in the pro racing series. This is the
one where there was a typo (leaving the "i" out of America on the back
end of the car.

The other edition I have seen on the 1/64 scale, as of today, is on a
primarily red background card, also Hot Wheels Pro Racing, but there
is not a first edition description on the packaging. This car does
not have the typo. Rather, the entire phrase "Boy Scouts of America"
is missing. (my guess is when the error was discovered, this was an
easier "fix" than getting an "i" back in the phrase.)

Other than the packaging and the typo v. no phrase on the back end,
the cars appear identical.

The larger, 1/24 scale, is metal and is primarily for display. Hmmm,
what a neat gift for anyone in your unit who always does the driving
and running around. This size was priced at 13.99 (US)

Prices above were at Toys R Us in Norman, OK on Saturday 11/28/98.

Note, because I've gone on about these cars more than once here, I
guess I should clarify the following. I have absolutely zero
financial interest in Toys R Us, Mattel or any other retail outlet
where these cars may be purchased by an interested party.

I just really like these cars - they look awesome and they have a
great potential for slides, gifts to boys or leaders, etc.
