Wow - I try to take a middle of the road position, since I
see value in both sides, and I get insulted for it.
Rick, your way is not the only way. I don't know of *ANY*
troop in my district where the boys all supply their own tents.
As I said in my first post, this doesn't make it right. But
impugning the motives of adults whose troops don't run by your
rules, where the BSA has not spelled out a specific way to
do things, isn't very helpful.
So how prevalent is the use of personal tents? If you e-mail
me with how your unit handles this, I will tally the results
and post to the list.
Also, let me know how you handle other equipment, such as
stoves, lanterns, cook sets, utensil sets, water jugs, tarps,
etc.
