Scoutmasters minute, A call to check ourselves.

A Scoutmaster friend of mine told me while he was at the donut shop the other
day, a boy in his late teens got up and to make a phone call on the pay phone on
the wall behind my Scoutmaster friend. He wasn't trying to listen in but
couldn't help hear the conversation that went like this. Hello, I am calling to
apply for your sells position. Oh you already have someone? Well, I work very
hard and I can be trusted to be aggressive to make lots of sells. Oh you already
have someone like that? OK, thank you for your time. The teenage boy sat down
and my Scoutmaster friend wanted to help him give him some comforting words. So
he said, I am sure there are many other places that will gladly hire you. The
boy said, "Oh that was my boss, I was just checking to see how I was doing!"
Have you ever thought about checking to see how you are doing? Have you wondered
if you called your parents to apply for the job as their son? What would they
say? What if you called your SPL and asked for your position in the Troop? Would
he want to grab someone who wants to do a good job. A Scouts is duty bound to do
his best. Not just his best at Scout activities, but his best with his family,
school work and church as well. A Scout is duty bound to do his best all they
time and for everyone. Are we doing our best? Should we call our parents to
check how we are doing? What do you think your Scoutmaster or friends would say?
My Scoutmaster friend said the teenage boy in the donut shop was greening from
ear to ear.
