90# Scan

Folks:
Putting my other hat on, as a network designer for a large
west-coast telecommunications company, this only works
if you are connected to a PBX or Centrex that allows
unsupervised call transfer.

IOW, home users have nothing to worry about. Businesses
who have disabled this PBX feature have nothing to worry
about. (the detailed explanation has been deleted for brevity)

Just as you would be skeptical of a random post on the
internet, not everyone who calls you is who they claim to be.
Legitimate telcos can test lines automatically without user
intervention. Legitimate employees who visit carry ID, and
usually don't show up unannounced. This opportunity to remind
is the main benefit of Robert's forward. Thanks, Robert.
