Follow-up: Wood Badge Beads

Well, well, well... Thank you all for clarifying the issue about the
awarding of the Wood Badge beads.
To summarize, it seems that the beads are universally awarded after the
course and after completion of the written ticket, and that many people
refer to their committment to Scouting after the beading ceremony as
"working their ticket." This is what I misunderstood in David Vining's
original post.
It seems that in my reply to his first post, I left room for others to
misunderstand me as well. Let me clarify this for the group: I
finished up my ticket speedily as I was very motivated and had the time,
and I was awarded my beads exactly six months after finishing the course
at the six-month anniversary ceremony, (and not a day before). Maybe I
could have been a bit more clear about that in my original post.
At the time I went through WB, I was very involved in Scouting on the
district and council levels, and after the course I got even more
involved. I've continued with that level of involvement for the past
couple of years but asked for some time off from the various Scouting
committments last September. We have been stressing ourselves trying to
finish the remodeling we began late last spring on a 130 year-old house
and trying to move into that house; my sons went back to school and so
began the daily mom's taxi cycle; and I also began again as a full-time
student at the university 45 miles down the road. Something had to give
somewhere and unfortunately it was Scouting, but I am looking forward to
getting back involved again in a few years when I finish up with my
graduate degree. Oh... I feel such a deep longing for the woods on
those crisp fall mornings when I wake up, step outside and feel the cool
air on my cheeks and realize that life would be much nicer if I was
crawling out of a tent at the camp on such mornings and having my sons
and all their friends there to enjoy the day with. Oh well, maybe next
year, huh?
Anyway, maybe that clears things up. Thanks to you all who responded to
my post, and my sincere apologies to David Vining for the original
misunderstanding. I just wondered if things were different from one
council Wood Badge course to the next, that's all. I might add here as
well that going through Wood Badge was perhaps the most fun I can recall
ever having in all my adult life... I enjoyed feeling like a kid again
:)
I remain yours in Scouting forever,
