The 35 females were part of the new "young adult" Exploring=20
Division, and they did attend the Jamboree, according to the BSA.
_Scouting_ and the young "Exploring" Magazine both carried stories=
=20
on getting the crew together and attending. Perhaps, like a lot of=
=20
BSA folks that get to go to a World Jamboree, they didn't camp=20
onsite nor got to participate fully...which would explain why...

Male Explorers, yep. Female Explorers, something *new* to the BSA,
nope..I'm sure they were NOT a part of the regional contingents but=
=20
on their own.

Again, for the males, nope. The question was for the *females*,=20
Bob. From the limited stuff I've got here, the beret was=20
introduced with the *intention* of Scouts taking it to the WJ; and=
=20
I'm sure that there were some Scouts that got one and wore it. But
I'm pretty confident that the female Explorers got to wear the=20
kelly green "leadership corps" shirts and the red berets.

Hope this helps out a little... I was too young for the World=20
Jamboree that year, so I've got to rely on old clippings and=20
magazine articles and stuff to go by....I did remember that there=
=20
was a BIG PUSH to get BSA participants from each of the Regions to=
=20
attend....and that the BSA was bending over backwards to get a more=
=20
diverse group of contingent and contingent leaders to attend.
