25th Eagle (Troop 299)

Thomas Heavey, Sr. (heavey@NWRAIN.COM)
Thu, 1 Oct 1998 19:39:36 -0700

Dear Friends:
It is with pride and relief that I announce the 25th Eagle Scout of Troop
299, Tacoma, Washington. Thomas Heavey. Jr. (Thom) was certified by an
Eagle Board of Review on the night of September 30, 1998. Thom completed
his work toward the Eagle award and his paperwork was turned in on August
7th, 1998. His 18th birthday was August 9th, 1998.
Thom's eagle project centered on leading and coordinating the collection of
used envelopes and trimming the stamps from them. A total of 67 pounds
(approximately 200,000 stamps) were collected. They were turned over to the
Sons of Norway for shipment to Tubfrim, a school in Norway which serves
developmentally disabled children.
His leadership positions included Patrol Leader, Instructor, Senior Patrol
Leader and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He has over 120 days and nights of
camping, and earned the fifty miler award ( after climbing Washington's Mt.
Olympus).
His Court of Honor will be held in January or February of 1999.
