Re: advancement question

Hello All,

I am not going to pretend to know everything there is to advancement but
have been working this area for several years and have found that a good
software program (we use Troopmaster) is invaluable. We also have EVERY
4403 submitted on every scout probably for the past 20 years. Over the
past three years our troop has had 9 eagle scouts applications submitted.
Only one was returned to us because the scout had not completed a merit
badge. He did, council lost the 4403 and did not have it updated. I went
to my records, pulled out our copy of the 4403 and gave it to council who
made a copy of the form for their records.

Although I am not an employee of Troopmaster and don't get royalties, I can
tell you that it has made my job as ASM/Advancement MUCH easier. We have
56 active scouts and I can't image having to do the record keeping by hand.
In addition, Troopmaster has many reports to aid in management. For
instance, one we use regularly is 'Scouts not Advancing'. This report
insures that no scout slips thru the cracks.

YIS,

John Covert
