Pete, I am sure you have heard others say nice things about your son. It is
generally true that mom or dad sees a different boy than do others. I think
it is that other boy that Scouting is looking at. Certainly if you were his
Scoutmaster and not his dad, that would be the boy you would see.
So I guess I would not measure him by things that others have not. I will
admit to being my sons's scout leader (all three sons, Cubmaster to all,
Assistant Scoutmaster to all), and I will admit to being tougher on them than
on other boys, but I think it was because I knew the program and what it
expected, rather than whether he "sassed" his mom the night before.
