Our troop is also in a "mixed bag" area. Some of the scouts families are
very well to do, and others have a hard time from week to week.
For example, this past summer the troop planned an 18 day trip to Alaska, of
a troop of 40 boys there were about 8 that could afford the 1500.00 charges.
Along with parents about 12 people went.
I beleive that each scout should be given the chance to "earn" his way. We
have discussed this in our committee meetings, and have decided that each
scout should receive a "credit" toward these trips if they particapate in
the troops various fund raisers. This would help defray some of the costs
associated with some of the more expensive outings.
