Hi all,
I second Les Chaffin's note... I just completed my Wood Badge Course this past
weekend (NE III - 138) ... And as a Bear and being at the top of that food
change (smile) we had a great time ... right from the very first weekend our
patrol worked well together - we melded together very easily. Anyway - they
talk of this being a mountain top experience... It wasn't until our last night
that I felt it to truly be a Mountain Top Experience... all coming together,
this 'new set of patrols' being added to the Troop 1 Gilwell family... I felt
we were now being raised up one more level in Scouting. It was a wonderful
experience, that night there was one troop, not separate patrols. I'm very
happy I took the challenge. I met a lot of good people whom I now consider
good friends. There was a lot of emotion by everyone. It was commented on how
well we all sang that night - how strong the feelings in the WoodBadge Song
came out compared to that first 'weak' attempt ... That first time - all
standing there singing, not really knowing the words, fumbling with them as we
also fumbled with the meaning of the song. But to hear us sing our LOUD that
night... It was nothing short of a miracle happening that night...
And so now - I'm off to work my ticket... '...and a good ole bear too!'
