Dave;
You are absolutely correct. Using any given verse from the Hebrew or
Christian Scripture taken, by virtue of quoting it alone and using it by
itself without reference to the purpose of the book from which it is taken
is proof-texting and, among scholars of Scripture (and I assume other books
such as the Bagavad Ghita, Kumran, Book of Mormon, etc.) is considered an
abuse of the interpretation of Scripture.
Hindus, please forgive my probable misspelling of your esteemed works, and
correct me. :)
