And I'll go you one more Jim...the attendance is better, the excitement
is up, and most likely membership is growing with it.
Why is that?
That is because it is the way the Scouting program was designed to work.
Locally, people will follow their own ideas, and the enthusiasm
compounds, until it becomes a movement again.
In pursuit of more money, every Council activity must at least break
even, and in most Council's the event must make money. This is used
then to help pay the cost of the general budget, which is getting cut
into more every year, as the membership dwindles.
The thing that gets me is that the local community (in most cases) gives
far more money to the office than you will ever see or need for your
Unit.
They want desperately for you to succeed!
