Re: Flag Ettiquite - visiting countries
(no name) ((no email))

I answered a question about the US flag and how to fly it
(something I SHOULD know something about...but don't!!)
incorrectly. Jim Sheckels and a couple of others correctly
corrected the posting:
>>>Can they be on the same pole, with the US above?
I stated "They should not be, but they can." That's WRONG.
>NO Mike - they cannot in times of peace.
The other question was....
>>>Do they fly on separate poles equal or US higher?
And I replied "They fly on separate poles with the top "ball" or
"pin" (I forget what the technical term is) of the US flag taller
than those other countries."
Again, I was INCORRECT THERE..but I was reminded what it was
called:
>The ball is called the TRUCK. Poles MUST be of equal height in
>times of peace.
Jim continued:
>My refernce is the US Flag Code, which is spelled out on the
>American Legion web site, among others.
>
>The American Legion has an excellent flag etiquette web page at:
That link's going into my personal bookmarks today....thanks, Jim
and those others for the correct answers to my responses!!
