Hi MD DrewM,
Sorry, Saw it, yet Missed your real start
Comments on Your Note
---------------------
1>Yes Council seems totally correct
(Yet isn't going out of its way to help is it?)
(One thing us USA Volunteers have to deal with)
(You should read about those Australians, and )
2>Your Sources saying they and we the minority =
are wrong. OK we are only 35% yet informed.
((The Troop Committee Guidebook, 1990 edition, =
((at page 14 lists COR responsibility
Read it, Put and Walk the shoes that are needed
to fill those requirements if they were yours, =
and you will see that every CoR and even the
IH once and awhile should be invited to a BOR
and a COH. They should attend as it is their
Unit.
3>Forcing himself IS a PROBLEM
Who has the problem I haven't the foggiest??
Get two people together even after a long =
close marriage and there are often greater =
than 5 arguments. Mathematics, or ?? seems =
the only true sanity.
<<---Notes from our Scouts-L colleagues =
<<--- and some of my gibberish and opinions.
<<21 Sep 1998 07:36:14 Jim Peterson <kupete@KUHUB.CC.UKANS.EDU>>
CoR signing =
This is variable per unit. The CoR is supposed to
serve the CO and can be appointed by the IH, a =
CO committee, or by other means selected by each CO.
When there is a CO internal FIGHT the DE or SE shall
turn to the IH. The IH thus is really the accountable =
CO person. This is kind of true, since the IH in your
Council's computer and reality are often disconnected.
I believe Our buddy KY-MikeW told us that the CoR =
is officially being phased out yet many CoR's will
still seem like IH's inspite of this phase out.
(Hopefully MikeW, BruceC, PaulW, SteveT, TonyM or =
(many others will correct me if I got my wires =
(crossed on what our Black Eagle wrote to Scouts-L
<<21 Sep 1998 09:08:53 Leslie Fife <ldfife@YAHOO.COM>>
Leslie expresses the obvious question we all wonder.
The books, and videos foster an adult Team atmosphere
not a Kingdom. A Participatory Democracy with many
co-leaders.
What, Who, and Whom lies the REAL Problem?
and a Solution looking for a Solver?
Scouting Want You are Scouts-L Buddy Drew!!
<<21 Sep 1998 13:23:26 Steven G. Tyler" <sgtyler@EROLS.COM>>
MD-Steven is 100% on target with ALL he wrote
and describes how the relationships could work
when they seem to be as strained as yours.
Work them like Steven described if you need to.

OH-Stony the Shark is like Cattail Steven 100%
---------------------------------------------
Some added ideas to add to Steven and Tony's
1>Invite the DE or the DC to bring over their
TV-Video machine and show some of the BSA tapes.
The DE or the DC might use the Order of the Arrow
guys so don't get concerned if they show up.
(An hour or two to level set you guys on =
(purpose and working together should be =
(a good start
Every Council, DE, and DC are different just =
like you and I, so you as a Unit might have to
push them or even the SE/CE or CP to serve you.
Hey sounds like a CoR job. (Pain aren't I !!)
2>Ask the DE or the DC to have the DC or a =
another really good conflict resolution Council
commissioner come and visit some of your =
committee meetings.
These guys/gals can be great.
Again sounds like a CoR or a CC job
(You must hate me by now)
3>Add some training time to your Troop Committee
Meeting. Start off with reading together as
a Unit the Troop Committee Guidebook.
Have discussions and plenty of conflicts by =
yourselves and with yourselves.
(As a personal laugh, many of us Scouts-Lrs =
(share this last idea and reality. Doesn't it =
(sound like the Adults are in a Patrol and on
(their way to merely 1st Class. Many of us =
(have been through it or are living through =
(it again and again. Pain yet have some FUN.
YiS, IMHO, and may we each attempt to live the SO,SL,SS,SM
