Re: Release Forms

We are a new pack (starting our 2nd year now...last year we had no "policy"
and were lucky as was the pack we split from who also had no policy) and
were going to go over safety requirements and forms requirements at our
Sunday Committee/Leader meeting. I'm so new and the protection guidelines
and safety stuff is so vague. I can't even get a straight answer from
Council about when we need a tour permit and when we don't let alone finding
out the difference between permission slips and release forms. As for
Tigers...do they need either since one assumes that the parent/guardian is
always there? What about car-pooling? How do we cover the drivers? Someone
suggested using the health/medical release information from the council
parent/son camping and the day camp and resident camp forms as a sample.
Could you give me some idea what the forms are like, what is involved and
what sorts of things I might need to include?

Not just for camping trips but for all outings that leave the church
where we meet. In fact, we have them sign a general release form for the
year and make up books with copies of all of the boys forms for each
driver. Our CC is an attorney who specializes in this aspect of the law
and he says we are covered doing this. I guess he would have to defend
us for free if we were sued.
