Incommunicado

Sorry I haven't been responding to questions, problems, etc. I found myself on
the Sunday before labor day in the er of a small wisconsin hospital with a
weight hanging from my elbow, my fingers in chinese handcuffs, and a large
amount of pain.

A trip to Illinois, a night in the hospital after 3-4 hours of surgery, 8
screws, 2 plates, a pin, and a lot of painkillers later I finally have four
fingers on one hand and fewer bruises and a busted-up bicycle that is being
repaired - shifter, derailluer, etc. - so I can do this again some other time.

Unlike political figures, it was all my fault, I lost control of the bike
going downhill. And I take total responsibility for destroying a perfectly
good pair of old BS cargo pocket shorts (my son retrieved the 1/4 that tore
off on the guard rail so we could try to repair them). Of course I was with
two sons, who got me a vehicle to the hospital quicker than the local
ambulance probably would have (trust me). Thats right, keep all these things
family events.

Of course the night before I caught and released a 3lbs and an over 4 lbs
Black Bass, and had plans on going back---now I can't cast.

100's of messages. A week worth of scout-l digests. I'll catch up someday.
