Re: College credit for Scouting

I did leave out one other source of credit under the "credit by
examination" part:
The College-Level Examination Program, or CLEP, is a series of
tests similar to the ACE/ACT testing program and the DANTES testing
program, and is available on most college campuses. Again, there's
a series of multiple-choice questions and a seminar-type paper
which is required to be written. The cut-off for most of the tests
is at 60%, which is well below what traditional courses have as a
passing grade (69 or 70).
Scouting experiences and training/badgework can be useful at the
collegiate level, but it's only a small part of the total college
experience.
Thanks to William Dilla for the excellent "piggy back" to my
earlier posting, and for the addition of leadership opportunities
on the campus and off-campus. There's all kinds of ways that
Scouts and Scouters attending college or university -- even the
community or junior college version -- can be of positive service
to the college community...check with the college's service center,
or student activities or programs offices.
