Lorie wrote how she added this after a boy got burned. I learned long ago
there is one thing you can buy that can handle two problems - and don't laugh
when you hear the story:
I was in High School and the Band took a trip that was straight out of H***.
People got sick, there was no one thinking about hydration, etc., and the only
one who knew anything about firt aid was me. Spent most of five days blowing
the money I had on supplies and materials to keep people healthy in a foreign
country.
One thing that the druggist in a small town sold me was Preparation H, which I
started to laugh at him for, but he told me its the best topical you can buy
in the highest concentration you can get, and as long as the tube hasn't been
broken it can be used on anything and you can be sure of its being good for a
long time. We used it in 5 days on - bee stings, sun burn, lord I can't
remember all the things. Got home, tossed the tube, and the next year when
they asked me to make up a firt aid kit bfore they left it was near the top of
the list of items to purchase and include.
Every kid looked at the tube and went "EWWWW!" until they felt how it relieved
the pain.
I haven't had a tube in years, using store-bought kits instead and whatever
they include, but you may want to see if its a possibility for your first aid
kit. My first Scoutmaster (an OTR trucker) would've killed for one of us to
have it in a kit when I was 11 and 12, and not for what the foreign druggist
taught me.
