Jamboree on the Internet

(EC92@AOL.COM)
Wed, 2 Sep 1998 16:46:36 -0400

I thought I would be nice. I contacted a friend at National. I asked if we
could have a copy of the internet use rules BSA is developing (or I'm TOLD
they're developing). Turns out there aren't any written down yet.

The response was supposed to be "Humorous": "Why, do you want to know? You're
not doing something behind our backs that we'll be mad about, are you?"

So I said "Of course I am. Everything I do is something that *someone* there
wouldn't approve of..."

So there *is* a need for the system my Post devised for registering JOTI sites
and checking memberships.

Anybody who is interested should check our Post's URL:

http://members.aol.com/post7388/

Which includes a sign-up form for JOTI stations.

Let me point out that just because you sign up with us you don't have to
operate only with us, there will be other places you can go besides the list
we'll provide of verified Scout/Scouter e-mail addresses, ICQ's. IRC's, etc.
and the mailing list we'll monitor all weekend so non-Scouters can
participate. WOSM usually has a listing.

And hey, one person checked the site and warned us of a couple problems and we
appreciate it! We went from having a site for internal Post communications to
a site for public use in about 3 days and it was real easy to make mistakes,
so let us know if you find something else.
