DE/ Pro bashing

Shawn M. Cosgrove (cosgrove@MAIL3.BUNT.COM)

If you haven't walked in a persons shoes you should be careful on how you criticize them.
The job of a District Executive is a thankless job and it won't get anyone rich.
Yes, there are DEs that don't do a good job, but how many of us took the "will to serve" out of them?
I have had DEs that didn't want to do the JOB right, they would not give out their home telephone #,
quit working at 5:00 PM and only went to events on Weekends when told to by the SE. With that said,
How many of us expect them to drop everything they are doing and come running, right now?
The DEs JOB could be done by 5-6 people for 12-14 hours-a-day to cover what one DE attempts
to do monthly, and we (Volunteers) would expect more. We have a DE that likes to volunteer his time for Scouting,
but between us volunteers and the SE we are burning him out. He works between 60 -100 hours a week
and gets a pittance for his salary. How many of us say thank you?
Think about it, would you put up with a bunch of people that abuse you the way many of us abuse DEs?
When was the last time you asked a DE how you could help Him or Her? If nothing else say thank you to your DE
for the service they provide, you might get more out of them and see them Smile.

A hearty thank you and a Smile go a long way,

YIS
