Scouting as Ministry

My church and Cub Scout pack sponsor is a congregation in the United Church of
Christ. Our support of scouting (BSA as well as GSUSA) is certainly a ministry
for us, just like our youth group, education groups, self-help groups, and
volunteer outreach groups. Our congregation is medium sized (~200 families) and
most of our pack families are members of other churches, many from an adjacent
Catholic church (large) and nearby Presbyterian church (huge), neither of which
sponsor any Boy Scout units.
