The Guide to Safe Scouting prohibits involvement in the martial arts, other
than judo and aikido (Page 23, 1997 edition). Why this is so, I don't
know. As a former (haven't trained for two years) second degree black belt
in Tang So Do, I feel that martial arts can be a positive force. I suppose
there is just this negative image of fighting, without the recognition of
the discipline involved, and that it is generally based on self-defense.
Does anyone know why judo and aikido are allowed (I don't even know what
aikido is)?
