Kevin,
You bring out a perfect point. Over the years I have had numerous
opportunities to go to woodbadge but have yet to go. Before
deciding I looked around at the guys walking around with all their
woodbadge regalia and tried to notice any difference in what they
did. Other than to get nifty belt buckles and bolos it seemed to have
no effect. I can only think of one guy, a friend of mine named Tom,
who seemed to get better. But then, he was a super scouter before
woodbadge.
I see a lot of the 'I used to be a ....' crowd around at the socials
but they disappear when the work shows up. I would expect that if
they were to really lead by example, that if actions speak louder
than words, they would be out in front leading the group.
So, I will probably continue to pass up the opportunity until I
see the previous graduates showing me why I ought to go. Right now
I have plenty of belt buckles and bolos!
