I could not disagree more. As I said in my previous note, Scouting
should not be a bully pulpit for people to prostelize. Scouting
is an inclusive organization with regards to religious belief. There
are, in fact, Scout troops all over the world, indlucing places that
do not ascribe to Christianity.
Todd, you are entering into dangerous ground. Even if I were to agree
that the Bible is the sole basis, whose bible would we use? A
Catholic Bible? A King James Version? A Torah (same God, just
no Jesus element)?
And who should say how that Bible is interpreted? You? The Pope?
Any of the millions of ministers in small congregations? The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
As I said in my posting, when you put on the blinders you risk that
someone else will do the same and exclude you.
Perhaps the real answer is that a person who cannot accept that
Scouting recognizes that there is more than one view of duty to God,
and who insists on pushing his/her view onto the movement is the
person who has no place in Scouting.
