I guess it should be shocking but, it is not, that many individuals find it
perfectly "ok" and acceptable behavior for our fellow citizens to bend the
rules or interpret them any way they see fit. If it feels right "do it". Huh?
Call me ultra-conservative or anything you want but there are certain
people, in this world, that I may not want teaching my children or having an
influence on my child. After all, they are my children, my most precious
gift, and I have the right to pick and choose. There are so many evils out
there that parents need do their best to filter out as much as they can.
But we have become desensitized to many of the negative influences and many
times don't recognize them until it is too late.
A while back it was posted about the Scout leader/parent that verbally and
phsically chastized his son in public costantly. To most, this was totally
unacceptable behavior. It was strongly recommended that he be removed.
Maybe that fellow needed the influence of Scouting in his life but his
behavior was/is unacceptable. So he needs to be gotten rid of.
Now, on the other hand we have people doing things, not at Scout meetings,
but on their own time, however; it is publicly known what these individuals
are doing in their spare time. Does it mean since it is legal that everyone
has to accept it? Should we not as Scout leaders be concerned over the
effect that Scout Leaders actions within Scouting as well as without have on
the program? I talk with the parents of the boys in my unit or I should say
they tell me many times when they do not approve of something. Should I not
consider their concerns or just do as I see fit? I think if I had that type
of attitude I wouldn't have any boys left.
Stripping is stripping. Why not let her do it at a Scout function if is
acceptable behavior? Oh, but I forgot, it is deemed adult behavior. It is
strange what we consider adult content. I guess we, as adults, should be
thankful that we have the right to lower our standards. My children can look
forward to violence, profanity and pornography when they become adults. That
is so reassuring.
The woman, who strips, is allowing herself to be exploited. Oh, I guess some
will try and say it is art. Art for who? Walking around naked it not
acceptable behavior on the streets of good ol' USA. It may be legal in
certain places but does that make it right. If it was/is why are we ALL not
walking down the isles of the grocery store, sitting in the bleachers at
ball games, etc. buck naked. Are there any naked BSA unit?
I thought Scouting had high moral standings to up hold. I guess I was
wrong, again. Sorry, I guess I am interpreting the Scout Law and Oath as I
see fit.
