Richard,
What would you do with a Scout (or Cub Scout) who wanted to earn his
religious award in the following faiths that do not recognize the Bible as
scripture:
Buddhist
Baha'i
or those that "fundamentalist" Christian do not recognize as Christian:
Armenian
Jewish
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Moravian
and I could list several others.
I am a Scoutmaster for a troop sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. We accept any young man into our troop and encourage him
to accomplish HIS duty to God as he and his family understand that concept.
Scouting accepts everyone with a belief in God, however that may be defined.
You do not the right, authority or privilege of determining what someone
else's duty to God maybe.
For other members of the list, I am sorry for the long quote below, but I
wanted to include this so that there was no question about the original
post.
>I have to claim being prejudice here because I feel the Bible is Gods word
>and if I try and follow the ten commandments he gave to me then the
behavior
>she is displaying is not approiate.
>
>Also we are talking about Duty to God not to Budda or
>some other God that someone has made up because if you
>go there who is to stop someone from saying that Satens
>rules shouldn't apply. To me there is and will only be
>one God and it is his rules we have to live by and if
>someone wants to follow another set of rules they should do it
>somewhere other then Scouting.
