Greetings Howie,

I am a member of Davis Friends Meeting in Davis CA (Pacific Yearly Meeting)
and have often wondered the same thing. I am a SM of T600 that is sponsored
by the local Lions Club in Winters CA. Our meeting has always been
supportive of our fund raisers and by son's religious medal was even
presented at a meeting for business. Like many meetings, our youth program
is weak. I teach first day school and use a lot of scouting games and
ideas. the kids love it when I am the one in charge. I've never talked
about the meeting sponsoring a troop but I can perceive a few problem.
Quite frankly, the scouting view on gays would create a long and lengthy
debate. To be quite honest with one we also have several excellent troops in
Davis and the surrounding are so there is no great void of good scouting
programs.
