Richard THIS program explicitly recognizes any number of non-Christian
religions as places where a Scout can do his duty to God. You do not
have the authority (Thank God) to tell Jews, Mormons, Moslems or
Buddhists that they are not part of this movement and in fact for you
to do so puts you outside it. I suggest you read the Deceleration of
Religious Principles which is clear on its "non-sectarian" standing.
(Before someone tells me this, yes I do know that how one categorizes
Mormons is controversial in religious academic circle. I included
them because they fall outside of the boundaries of fundamentalist's
definition. Of course so do we catholics Anglo and Roman. {sigh} )
There is a "similar" to Scouting fundamentalist movement which is
exclusively theirs: AWANA. But BSA is not and has not been ever
(Jewish units have been around these 80 years and more in the US) an
exclusively Christian organization.
You are welcome to your own view of theology as incorrect as it may or
may not be. But you are way over the line for Scouting when you
dismiss other people's faiths as "made up." I refer you to the
Handbook and its explanation of the Scout Law.
