Eagle BOR problems

(EC92@AOL.COM)

>If it's a matter of the local paper not getting the information right about

My unit returned from a trip to Philmont. We had photos, etc. One local paper
called me to see what else we could give them so they could do a full-page
story with photos, etc.

I got the paper with the article in it and died. Names mixed up, quotes wrong,
even called the place "Camp Philmont" and somehow screwed up the Waite
Phillips tale, too.

I called our legal eagle CC to try to apologize. His response was "Local
papers exist to get the right story but screw it up". I've lived with that
thought every interview/press release/story I've given them ever since. Your
advancement committee should know it, too.

P.S.- as to uniform, Mike has it right, was the kid supposed to know through
word of mouth? Ditto the SM. We do so many Eagle BOR's that only 2% of the
membership get the award and the kids want the thing to sound like its tough
anyways so it gets blown out of proportion. Even if it was 2% of your Troop,
how many Eagle Boards would that be a year? A troop of 30 would have *one*
every 2 years or so. Someone on the advancement committee needs to get it
together.
