Silly media people...they don't understand anything, do they?

This cuts to the chase, Mike. Did your District or Council send a
letter or notified the Scout as to THEIR EXPECTATIONS of the
Scout's attendance at the Board of Review (BOR)??
Did someone from the District or Council's Advancement Committee
contact the Scoutmaster and informed him or her of the need (?) for
their attendance (?) at the BOR??
I placed those two question marks there, because the "consensous"
is still out on whether or not the Scoutmaster needed to be there
PERIOD. I and many other Scouters say NO WAY, citing the current
BSA Advancement Guidelines (and the past copies as well); others
say here "Yeah, he or she can be there but they cannot be in the
room or say anything or do anything to influnce the Board". I've
countered by saying that their prescence at the BOR *is* a form of
influnce.
But whether or not the Scoutmaster is there, did someone from the
District or Council contact the Scoutmaster and Scout and let them
know of the "guidelines" for participating in the Board of Review??
If not, even if someone told the Scout to "let his Scoutmaster
know", the Scout could have forgotten....
>I need some advice on what to ask this scout and how to deal with
>this. I'm at a lost on the kind of question to ask.
I'm not clear on what the problem is. If it's a matter of the
Scout not showing up in the proper uniform, perhaps someone should
tell the Scout in advance of the uniform to be worn during Boards
of Review. A while back, I posted a set of "Board of Review
guidelines" which I've received from taking part in a Board of
Review in Tenneesee.
If it's a matter of the local paper not getting the information
right about the Eagle Scout process, perhaps someone can do a story
on the process and the importance of the community assisting the
youth with the process.
Otherwise, those same guidelines offered some questions that could
be asked of the Eagle Scout candidate. I'll see if I can find it
later this morning and post it again.
