Re: Troop tshirts as uniform

I must have missed the original post on this topic ...but my guess is a
question as to how troops handle T-shirts.

Our policy, enacted by the boys a few years back is to allow Class B uniforms
to Troop Mtgs during the summer months. (May 1 - Oct 1) The exception is
Courts of Honor, and other special events (which are known well in advance).
Just this past year, the boys asked if they could forego the Class A uniform in
lieu of a Troop Shirt (Not T-Shirt)... So we set out to get Troop Shirts ...
Collared, w/ pocket... Maroon and has an embroidered emblem (Camp Fire w/
Flames shaped as Fleur-de-leis, with our Troop number and town). So they can
now wear the Troop Shirt at regular troop meetings.... We now find they wear
the Troop shirts most everywhere (and proudly) as well as coming to meetings in
them. Again the exception is Class A's for CoH's and other special events.
They have a lot of pride in these shirts as it was their idea and not forced
upon them... New Scouts coming in, the parents have no problem with the
purchase...
I think it has done a lot of good w/ attendance and attitude ... plus we have
some PR whenever we go anywhere w/ these shirts... (Class A's for Travel
though) ...

Later - YiS!
