A "short seperation" doesn't allow for the colors. And if you use short
sleeved shirts with the patrol emblem, there is not room for much more than
the flag, emblem and QU. (In fact, the flag and colors barely fit on some of
these little guys!)

Wrong. Two patrols in the same pack would have different emblems. For
example, we had two dens of boys come up through the pack. Last year they
moved from being Den 1 and Den 2 into the Scorpion Patrol and Panther Patrol.
In practice, our boys end up wearing the colors over their patrol emblems.
It's the only way they all fit!!!
