I guess I'd recommend you start with "Cub Leader Basic Training
Course". Get the course syllabus used by the instructors and go over
the program top to bottom til you have it memorized (so to speak). Sort
of a self training exercise.

Then I would set up a meeting with my District Exec. and District
Commisioner and formulate a game plan for a "School nite" presentation
to get boys AND parents signed up. School nights are usually in full
swing by this time of year, so you don't have any time to loose on this
one. BTW, I assume you've alreafy taken care of the Charteing proceedure
with your DE. If not, now's the time to do it!

Next comes the training of the adult leaders part. By now you should be
able to train them yourself, just follow the course outline, get some
help from District Training staff if you need it and go to it.

Once you have boys and trained leaders the rest is downhill - just start
putting on the program. BSA has so much material on Cub Scouting you
should be able to just use standard BSA resources to start out. In
addition to the various rank(age) handbooks your best resource is the
"Cub Scout Leader (Hand)book" and the "Cub Scout Leader How to Book".
After that you can supplement and enhance as you see fit with all your
web resources, the best of which I've noticed is probably "Baloos Bugle"
monthly progam helps at the USSSP site: <http://usscouts.org/bbugle/>.
You've already found Scouts-l which is one h__l of a resource in itself.

And don't forget to plug yourself (and your leaders) into monthly
roundtables. They are usually more fun and resource filled than the BS
RT. And, also take advantage of District sponsored programs like Tiger
Growl, Scouting for Food, Cub Family Campouts and so on, if you have
them.

The best advice I've always been given is just get in there and start
DOING. Experience is the best teacher and a son in the program the best
motivator. Even siblings can participate to some extent, Cub Scouting is
designed to be a FAMILY oriented program. Hope some of this helps, good
