Thats (more or less) how chickens are killed on the farm when its time to
dress one for cooking. I cant tell you how small (very) I was the first
time I saw my grandmother do this (she used a stump and whacked off its
head and then took care of the rest). I thought nothing of it, as my
grandmother was (er, is) a very kind woman. Just dont be a chicken around
her when she has a hatchet and needs some bird to cook<g>

I suspect a Scout would be more 'traumatized' by a field trip thru a
commercial chicken processing plant that takes truckloads of live chickens
in one end and parts out the other end. Talk about a gross-a-teria...geez.
The machinery used to accomplish the tasks are ingenious, but its still
kinda rude.
