There is no such thing as a tapout (actually, there probably never was). It
is correctly called a Calling Out Ceremony because one of the most important
parts of the ceremony is to loudly and clearly read the name, town and unit
affiliation of EVERY Scout elected, whether he is there or not. (You are
not required to attend a callout in order to complete the ordeal.)

This choice is very specifically NOT left to the lodge, although lodges do
have preferences about how and when their candidates are notified. Under
official OA policy, the decision on when to notify those in his troop who
have been elected is specifically left to the SM.
